Visa-Free Entry (Short Stays):
Indian passport holders continue to enjoy visa-free entry to Thailand for short tourism or business trips (typically up to 60 days) without requiring a pre-arrival visa, provided you meet standard entry conditions (valid passport, return ticket, sufficient funds) under the current exemption regime.
Mandatory Thailand Digital Arrival Card (TDAC):
From May 1, 2025, all visitors entering Thailand—including Indian travellers—must complete the Thailand Digital Arrival Card (TDAC) ahead of arrival. This fully digital form replaces the older paper TM6 arrival card and must be submitted online at least 72 hours (3 days) before landing in Thailand by air, land, or sea.
The TDAC asks for basic passport details, travel plans, and accommodation information. After submission, you’ll receive a confirmation (digital or printed) to present to immigration on arrival.
Financial Proof for Visa Applicants:
For those who do require a tourist visa (e.g., stays longer than the visa-free allowance or other visa types), Thailand has reinstated the financial proof requirement as of May 2025. Applicants must demonstrate adequate funds—typically at least 20,000 Thai Baht (≈ ₹45,000–₹46,000)—via recent bank statements or a sponsorship letter when applying for a visa.
E-Visa System:
An official Thai e-Visa platform is active from early 2025, allowing Indian travellers to apply for various visa categories online (tourist, business, etc.). This streamlines applications, document submission, and payment—but is only required for travellers who need a visa beyond the visa-exempt stay.
Stay Durations & Possible Future Changes:
While the current visa-free or visa exemption duration for Indian travellers remains around 60 days, Thai authorities have been reviewing potential reductions (e.g., towards 30 days) to address visa misuse and overstays. No official change has been confirmed yet, but travellers should monitor official Thai government or embassy announcements before planning long trips.
Travel & Safety Context:
Thailand continues to welcome international visitors, with major tourism hotspots like Bangkok, Chiang Mai, Phuket, and Pattaya operating normally. There have been heightened security measures in some border regions, but they do not affect mainstream travel in popular destinations.
